youtube comment: In mid 2000's an old gentleman from Santorini who remembered the explosion of 1950 told me that the the volcano in the middle of the caldera was at the same height as when the explosion happened. He mentioned that people of his age group were expecting similar activity in the near future. He said that the volcano disappeared under the sea right after the explosion and a few years later it resurfaced and continued to grow. This morning a Geologist currently living on the island of Amorgos, said, we might be experiencing the creation of a new island between Santorini and Amorgos.
